TPiRecap: 31 May 2013

Before we begin, a brief note for those of you who came here via the GSN Message Board:

As you no doubt know by now, GSN is closing down its message board in the very near future (perhaps even in the next few days -- I don't have an exact date of closure yet), at least temporarily while they change service providers for their "Community" section. Consequently, the main thread for the TPiRecap, where most if not all of the commentary and feedback on these things has been posted until now, will be vanishing into the ether with it. Please note that I do welcome and read all comments, positive and negative, and ask that you make use of the form below each post to leave your feedback going forward. At this moment comments are moderated, but rest assured that I am a lenient moderator and I will approve any reply that isn't spam or blatant attempts to troll me or my readers. So please, get in the habit of leaving your comments here, on the blog, and not in the "Official TPiRecap Thread" over on GSN -- at least until GSN gets their new boards operational, whenever that may be.

I'd appreciate your cooperation in this matter, thanks. 8^)

And now that that's out of the way, let's proceed ahead.

Okay. This is most definitely not fair. Nothing looks good here, except for the zero staying exactly where it is... so I'm gonna gamble that this means the zero is the one that needs to be taken out. $12,226.

Also note: It doesn't matter which 2 Patricia takes out. Either the first or second 2 will change the price to...

I'm getting entirely too good at this sort of thing. The unfortunate bit is, I've had entirely too much practice.

LOSS

Less than I thought, but still played out like I expected it to. (Well, maybe not the loss.)

Thanks to Byron's bailout on Punchy, at least we're not looking at the skunk today. But that's been about the only good news so far through four games. Can we turn this wreck around?

Close, but no more-acceptable-alternative-to-a-cigar-in-today's-society. Hmm... maybe change the 5 to a 4 to make it $18,437... but that's me. Thomas, however, goes along with me for the second time, and hopefully I didn't steer him wrong.

Figures. Never even considered the possibliity of a doubled digit. Ugh, this is not a good day.

Thanks to a pretty awful bid in the last spot, Nicholas is now looking down the barrel of the plane ride to Leftover Island. But is it yet possible to escape banishment? Stranger things have happened.

...Not often, mind, but they have happened.

It's now up to Patricia to salvage some pride for us today with Now....or Then:

  • Gold Bond Ultimate Diabetic lotion ***ANACHRONISM ALERT***
  • Airborne immune system booster tablets
  • Fritos bean dip
  • Caroline canola & red palm oil
  • Listerine pocket strips

Yes, even though the Then date is only about ten years ago, Gold Bond didn't market that kind of lotion until just the last year or two.

Patricia also gets points for seemingly following (by accident or design) the correct strategy for this game -- with the unwritten rule about four Nows to to Thens, you can just call "Now" for every price and have the best chance at winning. In fact, the only way you can lose doing that would be if the show decided to put the two Thens directly opposite each other on the "pie," which would be a rather evil thing to do.
