And no recap today, either...

...though this time, it's not my own doing.  CBS pre-empted the show today for coverage of Pope Benedict XVI's retirement and departure from the Vatican.

Obviously, major news like this trumps our little game show, so I'm not objecting.  We go tomorrow.

Update:  It does seem CBS returned to Price for the Showcases, at least.  Not enough to recap, unfortunately.  We'll almost certainly have a make-good over the summer.

No recap today...

DVR didn't record it.  Many apologies.

Hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

Um... Drew? Mike? Someone? Anne's first spin didn't go all the way around; it touched the dollar peg, but didn't actually click over to complete the full turn. They just play on. Can I get a ruling on this? That's a fairly serious breach of Price protocol.

Showcases: Josie (true) top winner, Anne runner-up.

We have another editing gaffe here, as we see their bids coming back from the break. Must've been for a quick retake -- Drew informs us that this is going to be Rachel's last show before she goes on maternity leave.

1. And So, We Throw It to Rachel to Introduce a Showcase In Her Honor
  • Stainless steel gas barbecue (GS)
  • Outdoor playset (GS)
  • Trip to San Jose, Costa Rica (3n, Pacuare Lodge; 4n, Tabacon Grand Spa)
    • Amenities out the wazoo
  • 2013 Jeep Patriot Sport FWD (2L, AC, power value grp; MA)
Josie bids $36,000.
(My bid: $31,824)

2. The Other Models Dish the Dirt on Rachel
  • Amber drops the bomb that Rachel actually hates to shop... but when she does shop, she usually does it at...
    • $3,000 Beverly Hills shopping spree (limo, 6hrs)
  • Manuela says Rachel is anything but tech-savvy, being the last of the current Gang of Four to get one of these...
    • Apple iPhone 5 (16GB) w/heavy-duty case & 1yr calling plan (450 mins & 3GB data/mo)
  • Gwendolyn informs us that Rachel's first car was an '88 Ford Bronco -- which she still thinks was a cool ride -- but her current dream car looks more like this...
    • 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 sport sedan (AT, 1.8L turbo, Becker map pilot nav system, rear deck spoiler)
Anne bids $43,000.
(My bid: $44,224)

And the gang presents the mommy-to-be with a good luck cake as we go to break.

Folks, I'd love to know why this has been happening lately. It's looking really tacky, having the bids appear and disappear before the contestants even make them in the first place. S&P might have to get involved here too...

Ouch doesn't even begin to describe it. That was... wow.

Welcome back to reality, folks. But hey, all those bonuses on the wheel were nice, right?

Drew congratulates Rachel on the baby and wishes her well (as do all of us here at the Towers, of course!)... then kinda awkwardly leads into the spay-and-neuter signoff, during which he can't even keep a straight face! ("Don't let it happen to your pets..." he manages through the laughter.)

Also, no mention of anything in the credits regarding Anne's anomolous first Showdown spin. I guess they're going to let it stand... which means we must do the same here. Still, it's a glaring error.
