TPiRecap: 31 October 2012 (Super Happy Fun Halloween Carnival Time!)

Back in business today after yesterday's utter failure on my part. Also, apologies if anything looks a bit off today; I was forced to reconstruct my recap template after a saving glitch replaced it with my Pricing Game template instead. I haven't had a particularly good last 24 hours when it comes to my PC. (All my own doing, by the way, and not the fault of the Windows 8 that I'm now using.)

But anyway. Today is All Hallow's Eve, and you know what that means... Every year since Drew took over, Price has done a special Halloween episode with host, announcer, models, and contestants all in costumes, usually with a unifying theme (such as 2010's salute to The Wizard of Oz, or last year's flashback to the 1970s). This year, the theme is... well, you'll see.

Although in some ways, today's theme could possibly have been more appropriate for Drew's predecessor, when you consider his name...

Episode # 6093K (Super Happy Fun Halloween Carnival Time!)
Airdate 31 October 2012
VTR 24 September 2012
First Four Wendy, Ronny, Krista, Michael (L-R)
Today's Models Manuela "Snake Charmer" Abreález (w/Damien), Amber "Bearded Lady" Lancaster (w/o Norelco), Rachel "Strong Woman" Reynolds (w/child)

HAR-rry, HAR-rry, HAR-rry, step right UP!

Well, TV Guide always has talked about this show's "carnival-like atmosphere," so today it really is one! Drew's even rocking the classic carny-barker look -- pinstriped suit, straw boater hat, handlebar 'stache, cane and all -- and the models are done up as classic sideshow tropes as noted above. (Manuela's snake, by the way, isn't a prop... it's a bona fide, 100% living boa constrictor. Just when you thought you'd seen everything on this show...) As for George... I'm not sure what he's supposed to be, with phony legs sticking up from underneath the Gray Area to make it look like he's sitting on top of it.

Contestant costumes: Wendy's the Mighty Wheel, Ronny's a stereotypical construction worker of some variety, Krista appears to be a schoolgirl, and Michael is... Howard Stern, Vampire? Not sure about that one...

(Punch #2: $5,000; Punch #3: $100; Punch #4: $250)

As if he was gonna do anything else! (Drew doesn't even bother revealing the other slips in the order they were punched, he just goes from left to right on the board; I've put them in the "correct" order, however.)

For the record, Punchy has now had two fudge wins in Season 41... exactly as many as it's had in Seasons 39 and 40 combined. Not too bad, all things considered! But over three years on from the slip redistribution, and we're still looking for our first $25,000 winner in daytime...

New contestant: Kristi (Anime bluenette with a pink boa -- meaning feathers this time, not Manuela's newfound friend)

Just as simple as that! And I love the classic-looking sideshow banners serving as prize backdrops here, too -- featuring waltzing dogs and Mr. Pop Eye, the Man with the Rubber Eyeballs (He's Aleyeve!).

This may not be the all-out labor of love That '70s Show was last year, but this is gonna be a fun one anyway, I just feel it...

Just happened to notice that Ronny's rockin' the boa look too. "Man, the Village People really have let themselves go," Drew quips.

There's two ways you can get that exercise equipment home, Ronny... either talk Rachel into carrying it back to Garden Grove (CA) for you, or throw it in the back of what you can win in Five-Digit Pick-a-Number:
2013 Honda Civic LX (1.8L, AT, Eco-assist, remote engine start, that's not what the 6-star DragonBall is supposed to look like guys; AL)

Ronny, in response to "Whaddya do?" "I'm retired!"
Drew: "Retired from what?"
Ronny: "Bein' a pole dancer!" [twirls his boa]

I hate setups like this. They're so random that it becomes three-card Monty without benefit of seing the cards being shuffled... and just as likely to turn out good for the player.

I don't know what's going on with the Plinko Board lately, but since they decided to go back to weekly playings it's gone back to its late Bob-era form -- about as stingy as a zealous dentist's house during Trick or Treats. Yeah, $2,500 is nothing to sneeze at and I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at it, but we've only hit the big money slot once so far in Season 41 and it's starting to feel a bit depressing.

And now it's time for the real sideshow... mudslinging politicians.

Once we're safely on the other side of the fracas (slightly below the pancreas), we meet our new contestant: Paige (lost on the way to Woodstock, 1969)

You never know with these trips anymore... I thought $9,503 had a decidedly nonzero chance of being right. But luckily, that wasn't the case!

Oh, Wendy, Wendy, Wendy... your costume may be as close to the Big Wheel as you're gonna get. In fact, if you don't get out of the Row right now, you're gonna end up being the assistant in a classic knife-throwing act... as performed by the one and only Klutzo the Great. Suffice to say, it's in your best interests to bid well!

New contestant: Harriet (whoever she's supposed to be, it's with a hairdo that would've fit right in during last year's Halloween spectacular)

I guess seeing Klutzo preparing for the act by washing his contact lenses in the grease trap from the food tent scared her straight!

It's Wendy's 20th birthday, which at least explains why her costume is slightly incorrect (she has 20 where 80 would be on the real wheel), so she's just gotta win Rat Race:
Win: 2012 Scion xB (2.4L, AT, Pioneer audio, CC; $18,484 [3]; RR doing the Hulk number to open the door)

Show: Party Tyme karaoke machine w/music ($622 [3]; AL)

Yay for prizes I can look up! And yes, technically, this is a THIRD SP game today, which I believe is unprecedented (but I'm sure someone'll prove me wrong)!

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this trip down the midway, and we'll be back to normal tomorrow... until then!
