Posting weirdness...

Has Blogger undergone a backend change that I wasn't aware of?  Because it seems as if my usual method of posting a recap -- create in OpenOffice, C&P directly into the editor window -- no longer functions as it's supposed to.

It still works fine for the initial post, as you can see.  However, as soon as I go into the post a second time to make any sort of editing changes, all my tables go totally wonky.  It's as if Blogger decided to strip out any <table> tag that it may come across.  The actual information in the table is still there, but the formatting is all screwed up, with the end result that everything looks like a gigantic technicolor mess.

For example, let's take a Contestant's Row table from Friday's Back to School Special, which looks normal to start with:

1. Apple MacBook Pro 15” laptop computer (4GB RAM, 500GB HD, HD webcam) & AIO printer(MA)

Jeleah

Malcolm

Tiffany

Srikrishna

1100

1250

2000

2001

$1929

However, this is what it would look like if I tried editing anything else in that post:

1. Apple MacBook Pro 15” laptop computer (4GB RAM, 500GB HD, HD webcam) & AIO printer(MA)

Jeleah

Malcolm

Tiffany

Srikrishna

1100

1250

2000

2001

$1929

...and that would apply to every table in the post, rendering the whole thing as near “unreadable” as makes no odds.

As you can see, something really bizarre is happening here.  It may even force me to find another blogging service that respects this sort of table formatting, if Blogger no longer does, or to create these tables another way.  (They're just too complex to do by hand-coding, though I understand that's probably the only way to do it right.  I don't fear code, but my fingers do.)

Suggestions?  I'm all ears.

  1. Try a few test posts, & new templates, & if that doesn't work, try using a special way:

    Waterbed
    Judy Susan Barbara Loretta
    900 450 975 625
    $532

Also, do some templates maybe without the fancy borders. Try everything.

    1. "New templates" is where I think I'm leaning at this point, though apparently Blogger is messing up tables left and right even if they're typed in by hand in the HTML editor window. Which leaves me trying to find another hosting service altogether, if that doesn't get fixed soon...

  2. The CR table in this post is much larger and fatter than any other I've seen on this site.

    1. Yeah, that was the result of an editing experiment gone awry. Thankfully it's not necessary now, since everything looks to be back to normal.
