And the winless streak continues... only one win since Drew took over, and that was on a primetime special. The good news, however, is that we may see it one more time before the end of the season... this is only its third playing of Season 39, and four seems to be the minimum number for any Pricing Game not about to be retired (and I highly doubt we'll see Golden Road put out to pasture any time soon, winless streak nonwithstanding).

As for Brian's approach, well, it does make sense on the one hand; it's increasingly common for the correct digit for the four-digit prize to carry over from the three-digit prize. However, in this case Brian failed to recognize another common rule of thumb; you should never go for a doubled middle digit, in this or just about any other game, unless you are absolutely sure of what you're doing.

WIN!

Milestone: My records show that this is win #300 on the year.

You could narrow it down to two choices, since the third realistic option ($7,903) runs afoul of the unwritten Pushy rule that states the first price in line is never the correct one... and $8,162 seems overly extravagant, even given how expensive those theater seats are. That just left one choice, the correct one, though for a while I was terrified she'd misinterpret what the Peanut Gallery was saying and stop at $2,790!

Even Drew is wondering why Robert padded his bid by the extra buck. Tough break there.

This one was tough. Normally your instinct would be to apply the Distance Rule in this situation, but A) the trips are of two entirely different varieties, and B) the train trip is four days longer than the stay in Cape Cod. (To say nothing of the unspoken third option, that the Distance Rule is no longer reliable as a rule of thumb, but I don't want to get too cynical. Besides, it does still apply in enough cases where you can't just discard it.)

The Wheel suffers superficial damage during Brian's victory celebration... the 7 on the "75" space gets accidentally punched in half. I'm sure we'll be hearing someone kvetch and moan about that over on the GSN boards, and how Brian should be forced to pay for the repairs out of his winnings, or some self-righteous garbage. Spare me. Accidents do happen on this show.

Drew, however, gets bonus points for his quip that they'll have to use the Purple Wheel next time! (Remember that visual atrocity from early in Season 37?)

($16,995: Car; $17,850: $3,000)

Anyone who can blame her for stopping in that situation is just plain being silly, IMO. For one thing, Gas Money doesn't exactly have the world's best track record. For another, $7,000 is still a nice tidy sum of money for someone, even in this economy. And for yet another, that last choice was a total coin-flip if you ask me; both $16,995 and $17,850 looked good for what was, in effect, a base-model Chevy. If Debra was at all unsure of herself, she absolutely did the right thing by bailing out. I don't want to have to argue this any further, nor should I really have to; I've made my case. If you disagree, that's fine, and I'm not even going to attempt to change your mind.
